Ammonium hydroxide has the chemical formula NH4OH. Which statement is true about ammonium hydroxide? It is an element. It contains four elements. Each molecule contains seven atoms. Each molecule contains four hydrogen atoms.
What do you think?
@aaronq i thought it was B but im not so sure..
It contains only 3 elements, N, H and O. count the number of atoms, the subscripts mean that there are that number of atoms of that certain type. \(H_2\) means 2 H atoms \(H_2O\) means 2 H atoms and 1 O atom
so that statement must be false.. its obviously not an element.. so its either C or D
@aaronq
yep it's either C or D. count the number of atoms in the compound and the number of atoms of H.
Any element where there is not a subscript number following occurs just once (at that spot in the formula). For example, \(\text{CO}_2\) has 1 carbon and 2 oxygen atoms.
