The original cost of a lamp is $18.95. The lamp is on sale for 75% off. How much will you pay? A. $14.21 B. $9.48 C. $4.74 D. $1.90

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

The answers I have are: 1. A 2. A 3. A

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

The only ones I'm unsure about are 1 and 3.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I'm not really sure about #1, but #2 and #3 are definitely correct. :)

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

#1 and #2 are correct. I keep getting different numbers than the options for #3 but whatever

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

How do you calculate percentages? I got A for number 3 by multiplying .75 to 18.95.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Ohhhh, my bad. #3 is wrong. It's on a 75% sale. That means you have to pay 25% of the original cost. 0.25 * 18.95 = ??

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Also, x% means x/100 To make y which is a number into a percentage, you just multiply it by 100 and slap the percentage sign next to it

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

Ahhh, thank you so much. I knew 3 couldn't be right. It didn't make sense, that's why I posted it here. So that's how you calculate percentages? Thanks for explaining!

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

lol i was like...uhhhhh

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

So 3 is C. I'm pretty sure number 1 is correct, since the other answers for that question don't make sense.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Correct :)

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

How do you feel about #1?

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

I'm afraid to submit it because a 2/3 is a D...

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

@TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

Okay I just submitted it and got a 100%. The correct answers are: 1. A 2. A 3. C

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

#1 only has one option that isn't nonsense so go with that one.

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

Okay I just submitted it and got a 100%. The correct answers are: 1. A 2. A 3. C

OpenStudy (dinorap1):

I do like the "press any function key" option though. Just pick one at random. Spin the wheel, let it ride! Live life on the edge! Pee into the wind!
