OpenStudy (cutiekawdfi):

help please will fan and medal (: write a polynomial function with the given zeros 13. x= -1, 0 ,2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so you are gonna start with expanded form writing your equation out like this y=x(x+1)(x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you need to multiply all of it out to turn it into a polynomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which will give you \[x^3-x^2-2x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does this help? and do you understand how I did everything?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

A polynomial with roots a, b, and c, is (x - a)(x - b)(x - c) Use your given roots for a, b, and c. Write the three binomials, and multiply them together.

OpenStudy (cutiekawdfi):

how did you multiply it and get that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you have to distribute them out. so you start by distributing x into the x+1 which will give you x^2+x. make sense so far?

OpenStudy (cutiekawdfi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so then you are left with 2 binomials \[(x^2+x)(x-2)\] then you multiply them together as two binomials, which is how I got to my final answer

OpenStudy (cutiekawdfi):

i see (: thank you so muchh <3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem!(:
