OpenStudy (chris215):

If 5x^2 + y^4 = -9 then evaluate d^2y/dx^2 when x = 2 and y = 1

OpenStudy (zarkon):

this \[5x^2 + y^4 = -9\] is not possible

OpenStudy (zarkon):

and definitely not true for x=2 and y=1

OpenStudy (chris215):

really?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 is positive for all real values similarly y^4 is positive so sum can not be negative.

OpenStudy (chris215):

hmm okk so should I just say not possible?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perhaps the person who made this up was not paying attention that is \(-9\) on the right yes?

OpenStudy (chris215):

yes -9
