I have to write a 200-400 essay advice to a beginning writer on how to plan an essay and follow the writing process. What is the most important, specific step a new writer should take when deciding the purpose of an essay? Remembering to consider both the goal of the writing, and the motivation behind the writing. @cowgirl1

and I can't seem to start to put ideas i keep going blank I know that asking oneself questions on why one pick the topic to write about is a way to figure out the purpose but not sure if it's the most important

That's the thing I have nothing yet because I'm trying to figure out what the most important specific step a new writer should take when deciding the purpose of an essay. I manage to work when creating some type of outline so I know i'm going to have 3 paragraphs since the word count is 200-400 . I. Intro 2.Body 3.Conclusion

Well essays have i guess different branches if that makes sense to call it. It could be a persuasive essay, argumentative essay, or an informative essay.

Also, the thesis is the most important part of the whole essay because it tells the reader(s) what the whole essay is about.

yess, see the thing with me is i'm not a good thinker so when i'm trying to think about what this essay is asking me to write about I keep blanking out and feel like i'm not going to be able to stay in subject.

I dont know how to exactly give a simple advice to a new begining writer when i myself am one too.

I was thinking it could be asking oneself why the choice of the topic? but something tells me that isn't the most important part of the essay
