OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

Although "The Lamb" and "The Tyger" address the same concept, the tone is different in each. Explain how they differ using supporting evidence from the poems.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

The Lamb Little lamb, who made thee? Does thou know who made thee, Gave thee life, and bid thee feed By the stream and o'er the mead; Gave thee clothing of delight, Softest clothing, woolly, bright; Gave thee such a tender voice, Making all the vales rejoice? Little lamb, who made thee? Does thou know who made thee? Little lamb, I'll tell thee; Little lamb, I'll tell thee: He is called by thy name, For He calls Himself a Lamb. He is meek, and He is mild, He became a little child. I a child, and thou a lamb, We are called by His name. Little lamb, God bless thee! Little lamb, God bless thee!

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

The Tyger Tiger, tiger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire? And what shoulder and what art Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And, when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand and what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? what dread grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp? When the stars threw down their spears, And watered heaven with their tears, Did He smile His work to see? Did He who made the lamb make thee? Tiger, tiger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

I know one of the reasons is because of the rhythm and rhyme

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

For example, In "The Tyger" the excerpt "Tiger, tiger, burning bright" the tone is delighted.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

and in the lamb the tone sounds joyful

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Exactly

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

But now you must find the evidence

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

but isn't that the same meaning @jimmykim delighted and joyful

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Crap

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

I accidently wrote the wrong info.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

The tone is down.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

what you mean by down?

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

I only mentioned that specific excerpt.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

In overall, you have to read the poem. You have to determine how the speaker feels.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

You can use quotes and excerpts to figure it out.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

I did and i feel like the lamb is more of joyful tone and tiger is more of a questioning and uneasy tone since it's more on the day of questioning religion in my opinion .

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

@babyx3boo Very good.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

Thank you I just need help with what to support it with

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

OK.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

how about tender voice for joyful

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

You have to use specific examples.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

yeah "Gave thee such a tender voice"

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

oh

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Well then you can use that.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

what do you think would be a good example

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Gave thee clothing of delight, Softest clothing, woolly, bright;

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

it has a soothing and joyful tone? is that good

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

I dont understand your question.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

the tone for that poem using that example

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

yes

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

But now we must find an example for the tyger.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

What do you think would be a good example.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

Give me a second i'm trying to think on how to explain why it is a joyful and soothing tone

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

ok

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

could you help me on how to explain why

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

because the meaning of the poem is to thank God for his beautiful creations and the world?

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

That is good, but can you think of something with a bit more detail.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

well this is what i have right now .. With the meaning behind this poem being to Thank God for his beautiful creations and the world itself i believe this poem uses a joyful and soothing

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

You are doing good so far.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

what do you think i should add?

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Think about how the poem is written, and what is the point of the poem.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

well to me is to express Jesus Christ and his wonderful works

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Then you can use that in your explanation.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

I cant help you much longer. Its almost midnight here in California.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

over here is almost 3am lol but its fine thanks anyways

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Do you have to finish this assignment soon.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Ill try to help as much as I can.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

yeah I think imma just send what i have which is.. "The Lamb" "Gave thee clothing of delight, Softest clothing, woolly, bright; Gave thee such a tender voice," With the meaning behind this poem being to thank the creator for his beautiful creations and just overall express how wonderful he is, I believe this poem uses a joyful and soothing tone. "The Tyger" This poem made up of questions questioning the creator.."Did He smile His work to see? Did He who made the lamb make thee?" so the tone of this poem to be would more of an anxious, stressful, and uneasy tone.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

That is very good.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

All you need is the specific example for the tyger poem.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

I used the question where it says smile

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

good

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

Do you think theres a better evidence to use?

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Well there might be better evidence but what you have is good enough.

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):

alright thank you !

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

anytime.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

I know this is kind of weird but can you consider looking at a fundraiser that I created to support me and my family. Here is the link. https://www.gofundme.com/thmkefcs

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

OpenStudy (babyx3boo):
