OpenStudy (anitas.):

How do i do this? http://prntscr.com/9y68y2

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

substitute the values of given variables in their respective positions. Like if x=3 x+5=y becomes 3+5=y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just change x, y and z with their values :) try doing it by yourself, if you can't ask for more help

OpenStudy (anitas.):

Is this what it would look like\[3^3-2*5^2-3*3^3+-3^4\]?

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

\[3^3 - 2(5^2) - 3(3^3) + -3^4\]

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Now use order of operation to solve

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

PEMDAS

OpenStudy (anitas.):

I got 85. idk if it is right.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Hm

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

If it is wrong I will guide you step by step

OpenStudy (anitas.):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you made mistake, you changed numbers well, but made mistake when you calculated later on

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

@stefancipe I dont see any errors in the way it was written

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i said she changed numbers well, but it's not 85 she should post her steps she went through so we can see where is the mistake :)

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

oh

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

So using the PEMDAS formula. Determine what you see first in my equation. Hint: My Parenthesis are used to make the multiplication simpler.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

@annie12m Don't give direct a direct answer.

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

@annie12m Your answer is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a mistake, (-3)^4 =/= -76

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

-3^4 is equal to 81

OpenStudy (anitas.):

so was my answer correct!

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Let me chack

OpenStudy (annie12m):

-23 is the correct answer

OpenStudy (annie12m):

i checked on mathway https://www.mathway.com/

OpenStudy (annie12m):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, -23 is correct, but you should've let her do it :)

OpenStudy (anitas.):

@BabeBerry

OpenStudy (annie12m):

ok so ill explain then

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

You are both wrong

OpenStudy (anitas.):

i am soo confused now

OpenStudy (annie12m):

1.) First you have to plug in the numbers into the letters 2.) Second you do exponents 3.) Bring all down 4.) Do multiplication and division (FROM LEFT TO RIGHT) 5.) Bring all down 6.) Do addition and subtraction (FROM LEFT TO RIGHT) 7.) Finally you have your answer

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

The answer is -185

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's -23 man :)

OpenStudy (annie12m):

actually its -23 because i used mathway calculator

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

I will show you my steps.

OpenStudy (annie12m):

@jimmykim you cant beat a calculator so one or 2 of your steps was a messed up

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

I will show you my steps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me write it down 3^3−2(5^2)−3(3^3)+(−3)^4 27 - 50 -3*27 +81 -23 -81 +81 = -23

OpenStudy (annie12m):

@stefancipe is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you probably changed (-3)^4 to -81, but 4 is even, so - changes to + , and (-3)^4 = +81

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Oh

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Dang

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem man, it's small mistake :D you actually did pretty well :) same goes for annie

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

Oh well

OpenStudy (jimmykim):

It is solved at least

OpenStudy (anitas.):

so what is it 85?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-23 :D

OpenStudy (anitas.):

ok i will see if that is correct but thank you everyone for helping..<333

OpenStudy (annie12m):

yourwelcome

OpenStudy (anitas.):

-23 was correct! thank you very much ppl<33333333333

OpenStudy (anitas.):

i got 100%!! <333

OpenStudy (anonymous):

congrats!
