@F_Jayyy

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

well perimeter is 2(l*w)

OpenStudy (annie12m):

ya

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so l and w is 2x and x

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so 2(2x*x) :)

OpenStudy (annie12m):

ok thanks!

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

yeah no prob

OpenStudy (annie12m):

am i supose to do destribute property on the last step?

OpenStudy (annie12m):

@RhondaSommer

OpenStudy (annie12m):

what you think @stefancipe

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Quick review: The perimeter formula for the rectangle is 2L + 2W=P. Here P is given and is 18 feet. Thus, equate 2L + 2W to 18 feet. We are told that L=2x and W=1x. thus, our Perimeter formula becomes 2(2x) + 2(1x) = 18. Annie: multiply out the left two terms, one at a time, independently.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Then add the 2 terms on the left together and equate them to 18. type your answer here:

OpenStudy (annie12m):

2 (2x) + 2 (1x) = 18 4x + 2x = 18 6x = 18 /6 /6 x = 3 like this? @mathmale

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, that's correct
