OpenStudy (10024197):

Why was the sharecropping system negative for most South Carolina farmers

OpenStudy (tcook13):

Think of what Sharecropping is exactly,it is a system of agriculture in which a landowner allows a tenant to use the land in return for a share of the crops produced on their portion of land. This would be a very cost efficient for the owner of the land and also save the tenant money. Now sharecropping doesn't have to be known in SC but this is where it has been most popular throughout history. Sharecropping has been going on for thousands upon thousands of years though. Very key farming method in Egyptian time.
