bacause when you use just a single variable like b and apply the formula it goes like this m= (a/2,b/2) OM =\[\sqrt{a^2/4 + b^2/4}\] and then it goes on simply. There's no problem in doing so but it just becomes complicated and increases chances of doing an error.
