How do I solve this word problem: On Saturday Lauren traveled a total distance of 120 1/2 mi. In the morning, she traveled half the distance. That afternoon, she traveled 1/4 the remaining distance.

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

There is no question in the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How far did she travel in the morning is the first question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this is how you get the answer: 120 divided by 2= n n divided by 2= n n divided by 4

@UsukiDoll

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll ask for more help just in case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

120 divided by 2, you get 60, so she traveled 60 miles in the morning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but it has 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whole number: 120 fraction: 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you do 1/2 divided by 2, you get 1/4 So, the answer would be 60 1/4 miles in the morning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i get medal pls :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait it asks how far she traveled in the afternoon too though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think his is the answer: so, you do 60 divided by 4, you get 15 so the answer is: she hiked 15 miles in the afternoon

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, thanks again!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no prob, my pleasure <3
