OpenStudy (chris215):

Which of the following correctly describes the nature of each curve below as either f or f ′ ?

OpenStudy (chris215):

OpenStudy (chris215):

f: Curve A, f ′: Curve B ?

random231 (random231):

nope. what made you think that is the answer?

random231 (random231):

i mean what is the logic behind your answer?

OpenStudy (chris215):

oh I guessed bc my other answer was wrong

random231 (random231):

really? i think the other one was right.

random231 (random231):

f should be curve B

OpenStudy (chris215):

okk idk y my teacher told me that was wrong but thanks for your help!

random231 (random231):

dont you want to know the reason?

OpenStudy (chris215):

oh yes!

random231 (random231):

okay so tell me do you know what roots or zeroes of an equation are?

OpenStudy (chris215):

yeah

random231 (random231):

cool so did you notice graph B is cutting the x axis twice and A is cutting it once?

OpenStudy (chris215):

yep I see that

random231 (random231):

Awesome so that means B has two real zeroes and A has one real zero. which means B might be a quadratic eqn. ie of power 2 and A must be linear eqn ie power 1

random231 (random231):

B= ax^2+bx+c B'=2ax+b=A

random231 (random231):

get it?

OpenStudy (chris215):

ohh ok that's what I thought thanks so much! :)
