Would you prefer to discuss a topic you don’t find appealing or one you are absolutely ecstatic about? Most people would rather write about something that interests them, which in turn implies that most people would want to read something that is interesting. Typically, writers would much rather choose their own topics than be given ones that are seemingly uninteresting. Procrastination is a common occurrence due to several reasons. The most prominent reasons being either the lack of knowledge on the topic or difficult piecing ideas together. Therefore, a new writer should take care to pick a topic he finds interesting because it is the most important step in figuring out the purpose of his writing.
When writing an essay one should keep in mind what they want their audience to do, think or feel (W1). Approach your readers as if they were hearing your writing in the form of an oral presentation. When presenting oral presentations, it is crucial to hold the audience’s attention. To do so, one must avoid a lifeless tone and useless words that do little to explain the concepts of the presentation and keep the audience’s attention. The same theory applies when writing. Therefore, find a topic that not only you find interesting but you know your audience will too. That being the case, when writing about an interesting topic there’s a higher possibility for the audience to enjoy what you are saying while keeping your professor awake as well.
You cannot start writing without knowing what your topic is, so make sure it’s an interesting one. In doing so, you would have a better understanding on the topic and assemble ideas together easily. Which would mean not procrastinating as much and finishing before the deadline. Also, it will arouse your reader’s interests.

Hmm.. Maybe start out saying something like...

Therefore, when writing an essay, make sure to have general knowledge and interest in the subject. When someone has no interest in the subject they write about, the outcome tends to fall short of expectations and seems to be flat. So having an interest will thus help the overall outcome of the piece of writing in it's entirety.
