Trig Problem Need Help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Americans with Disabilities Act states that wheelchair ramps can have a slope no greater than 1/12. Find the angle of elevation of a ramp with this slope. Round to the nearest tenth.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know X will be my Angle and I assume 12 will be the hypotenuse but I don't know where the 1 goes I'll give a medal for help

OpenStudy (danjs):

do you understand the setup for the problem, the picture

OpenStudy (danjs):

recall that the slope is a ratio of the rise in elevation over the run in length of ramp

OpenStudy (danjs):

it is trig, but the ramp forms a right triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, I know X is my angle, I assume 12 is the hypotenuse but I don't know where the 1 goes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and whether or not to use sine or cosine
