So they can represent them and reflect their best interests in the government. Someone to protect their rights and be fair.

Or... They can just favor them because they think it is probably the best candidate running for president.

It varies. Sometimes people just like the candidate's logic or ways, people believe that they are strong in some points and serve great for the country.
