A graphic designer is planning the layout for a magazine advertisement. The ratio of the sum of the widths of the three pictures to the total width of the advertisement is 4:5. If each poster is 4 inches wide, what is the length of each of the four empty spaces between the pictures (t)?

i wanna say 3.2 but i think im wrong its been a while since ive done ratios

OpenStudy (tayaiv):

@DanJS Could you help me with this, please?

OpenStudy (danjs):

hi

OpenStudy (danjs):

There are 3 pictures, each 4 wide, total of 12in The ratio of the picture width to page width is that given 4 to 5 so the total page width will be \[\frac{ 4 }{ 5 }=\frac{ 12 ~inch}{ X~inch }\] so the total page width is X=15 inch

OpenStudy (tayaiv):

@DanJS Well this was easier than I had imagined. Thank you for explaining it so clearly!

OpenStudy (danjs):

so the difference there is the total of the 4 empty space widths 4 empty spaces = 3 inch each one is 3/4 inch

OpenStudy (danjs):

welcome, kinda fun prob
