Beginner's Guide to Graphing Can someone help me with graphing?

OpenStudy (danjs):

what are you working on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well nothing I am working on but just wanted to learn graphing since I want to prevent as many headaches as I can for next year since I might be doing it next year

OpenStudy (triciaal):

do you have a specific question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well y and x intercept is one question I have and also how to find a linear equation on a plane

OpenStudy (danjs):

algebra i guess

OpenStudy (triciaal):

good you want to get ahead but don't stress yourself out worrying about it now

OpenStudy (triciaal):

here is some basic info that should help you: a linear equation is of the form y = ax + b where y is the output and x is the input, the independent variable, and b is the y value when x = 0. this b value is called the y-intercept because it is the point where the graph crosses the y-axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah that makes sense to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I kinda understand it now but could you show it to me on a graph

OpenStudy (triciaal):

to graph a line you need a minimum of 2 points on that line. each point has an x coordinate the horizontal value and the y-value the vertical this is called the ordered pair (x,y)
