OpenStudy (anonymous):

If all the individuals here (let's say 2,000) produce just 2 offspring, how many individuals will be present in the subsequent generation?

OpenStudy (danjs):

the original 2000 if not dead, and 2*2000 offspring, 6000 total but

OpenStudy (danjs):

that is probably right, but every individual produces 2 kids, they all women, or is it really 1000 men and 1000 women, and each pair produces 2 kids

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@DanJS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 6000?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont think thats right

OpenStudy (danjs):

yeah, 2000 people produced 2 kids each, 4000 kids and 2000 adults, total 6k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it said it's wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when i sumbitted the asnwer

OpenStudy (danjs):

or are the adults considered last generation, so just the 4000 kids is it then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay yeah that's what i sumbitted so what if they ask this next If all of these individuals (4,000) also produce just 2 offspring each, how many individuals will be present in the subsequent generation

OpenStudy (danjs):

4000 * 2 = 8000

OpenStudy (danjs):

sorry i assumed if you are alive, you are part of the current generation.. .. it probably means the label put on the generations

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

This generation has 2000 individuals. Each individual produces 2 offspring. The next generation has 2 * 2000 = 4000 individuals.
