pooja195 (pooja195):

I'm torn between 2 worlds I was told AP Psychology is a college requirement and then on the other hand I was told it is pointless and I should take APUSH (AP US HISTORY) which is better to take? ;-; I seriously need to decide ASAP

OpenStudy (serenity74):

APUSH (even though it's a crappy class)

OpenStudy (serenity74):

You can get rid of Social Studies requirement in college tbh.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ap psychology but then again you know why i would say that

OpenStudy (serenity74):

APUSH = ADVANCE PLACEMENT US HISTORY

pooja195 (pooja195):

T_T im so confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

be like me

OpenStudy (serenity74):

What do you want to major in pooja.

pooja195 (pooja195):

I dont know yet :/

imqwerty (imqwerty):

which one do you like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Psychology helps you understand the people around you better

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Do APUSH that's a requirement (better than doing US History Honors if you ask me). But it's up to you.

@pooja195 : I was going to message you because this question is closed, but IG now there's a character limit and so I don't want to spam you. I just really want to help. Anyways, I guess I'll answer here. (/)~(\) Okay, so for my college, for social sciences, you need two social sciences. One core social science and one institutional social science. Core includes US History, General Psychology, US Government, Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Anthropology, and Principles of Economics - Macro. And Institutional includes Ancient and Medieval Western Civilizations, Modern Western Civilizations, International Politics, and State and Local Government. Since I am assuming you are in high school, all these classes obviously depends on what your high school has to offer AP-wise. Honestly, I don't think a high school would offer any of the Institutional ones, but based on what you said, they offer AP US History and AP Psychology. And they might offer AP Government too. Choosing which AP class to take really depends on which one you like. If I were to take one, I would choose Psychology because of my interest in Psychology. But students in my high school usually take AP US History because not only is it one of the requirements that can count for your college degree, but also a high school diploma requirement here. That's another aspect you have to look at. Try talking to your guidance counselor to see if there is an AP class that can not only benefit for your college requirements, but also benefit your high school requirements. I never did AP classes, but I am in a program called dual enrollment where I got to take college classes and I can finish my AA Degree at the same time I finish my high school diploma. I had to take US Government college course because it counted as a a high school course I was missing too. I'm taking General Psychology now and I love it (way more than Gov), but it counts as an elective since I already did Gov. But yeah, it all depends. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyways, good luck! (^~^)

pooja195 (pooja195):

APUSH isn't a requirement i ended up taking AP psych and took reg. US. History instead..I hope i made the right choice >.< Anywho thank you so much for your response finally something decent and helpful <3 :*

OpenStudy (darryqx):

You're welcome, and sorry again for the late help. Yeah, Psychology is fun to me. US History was interesting to me, but I have to say I loved World History much more. Lol. But yeah, any time. :D

pooja195 (pooja195):

We'll see what suits me XD im taking a psych class atm seems interesting but there aren't many career fields in Psychology :/

OpenStudy (darryqx):

There aren't a lot, but one can use psychology knowledge for many things. That's why I am considering minoring in psychology. I went to a university not too long ago and they said many doctors usually do some sort of program where they do two areas of study, one being medical stuff and the other science stuff, and their minor is psychology. Others might take some sort of psychology like child psychology because they're going to be a teacher or elementary school guidance counselor. There's even a career in engineering psychology!? I don't know what that is, but lol. >.>

pooja195 (pooja195):

Oh hmm well den i'll minor in it B)

OpenStudy (darryqx):

Perfect. ;3
