@jhonyy9

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

hi @shaleiah - how do you think this is a right triangle - yes ? with one second angle = 45 degree - so than the 3rd angle how many degree wiil have ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

the sum of angles of a triangle = ?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

90?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

the right angle is 90 degree

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

than you knbow that the sum of angles of a triangles is 180 degree so this mean that the 3rd angle has a measure of --- ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

180-(90+45) = ?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

I wasn't instructed to find the missing angle, I have to find the missing side length.

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

the values of x and y

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

yes but than you find the missing angle measure you will get somthing importantly

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Alright... 45

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so than you know that a traingle has an angle by 90 degree and the other two with 45 - 45 degree how you think what triangle is this ?- right and ..... - this will help you much

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

do you know what mean isoscele ?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Yes

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so now than you know that this is a right and isoscele triangle from this result that x=y yes ?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Yes

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sin 45 = ? what side divide what side ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sinus of an angle = opposite side divide hypothenuse - yes ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

do you can use it here than you know that the value of sin 45 = (sqrt2)/2

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

\[\frac{ 9\sqrt{2} }{ 2 }/\sin(45)\]

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so you can writing sin 45 = (9sqrt2 / 2 ) / x yes - oposite side divide hypothenuse

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

can you calculi the x from this ?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

9 :)

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so you know that sin 45 = sqrt2 /2 sqrt2 ( 9sqrt2/2) ---- = --------- 2 x x = 2(9sqrt2/2)/sqrt2 x= 9 -- right than you know that x=y so this mean that y=9 too

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Yes

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

@shaleiah there is samthing wrong because x not can being equal y because this mean that thia is triangle equilateral what has 3 angles equales by 60 degree and 3 sides equale too and this triangle not is so

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sqrt2 9sqrt2/2 ---- = -------- 2 x xsqrt2 = 9sqrt2 x=9 this is right sure

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

@AihberKhan do you agree?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

@DanJS

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

now use pythagora and write that x^2 = (9sqrt2/2)^2 + y^2 81 = 81*2/4 + y^2 y^2 = 81 - 81/2 y= sqrt(81/2) y= 9sqrt2 / 2 do you understand it please ?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Yes

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Option a

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

@shaleiah this is right sure - ok than you understand it so bye was my pleasure good luck

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

not a. - x=9 and y= 9sqrt2 /2

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Yes, sorry. C

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Thank you for your help!!

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok was my pleasure

OpenStudy (danjs):

yes i agree , , 1) The two legs are equal, they have the same angle opposite them 2) In 45-45-90 triangle, side ratios 1 - 1 - root(2), the hypotenuse is root 2 of a leg length

OpenStudy (danjs):

thats it, Y is the same as the other side, and X is root 2 times that, or 9
