OpenStudy (ayabaya2002):

Which sentence uses a verb that agrees with its compound subject? A. A robin and a sparrow has eaten from the bird feeder. B. Either those leftovers or the trashcan are causing that smell. C. Neither my aunts nor my uncles have arrived yet. D. Either Mario or Larry are a nominee for the award.

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

The easiest way to determine which sentence has a verb that agrees with the subject is to read each sentence aloud, and notice if the verb makes any logical sense and seems to flow smoothly off the tongue.

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

With that said, read each of them aloud and tell me which one makes the most sense.

OpenStudy (ayabaya2002):

I did that and ended up failing but thx anyway

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

Okay, maybe this will help: Verbs are actions. So look at the words that are the actions, and see if they make sense with the rest of the sentence.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Try this, strip each down to to a single subject and see which makes sense: A. A sparrow has eaten from the bird feeder. B. The trashcan are causing that smell. C. My uncles have arrived. D. Larry are a nominee for the award. If it makes sense here, it's unlikely to makes sense with the compound subject. What is your native language? The answer to this may help others to help you.
