Which is a good example of a contact force? protons in the nucleus of an atom a ball falling down after it's thrown up into the air a satellite orbiting Earth a bat hitting a ball
Keep in mind I do not even have a proper understanding of Contact force, so keep it simple please. :P
Contact force is a force applied when two objects or surfaces are in contact. Book resting on a table exerts a downward force on the table and table then counteracts by applying a contact force. Protons in the nucleus of an atom aren't in contact with anything else so they don't exert a contact force. a ball falling down after it's thrown up into the air is also not in contact with anything so they also don't exert a contact force. a satellite orbiting Earth is also not in contact with anything so they also don't exert a contact force. a bat hitting a ball is exerting a contact force on the ball, since there is a force required to counteract the effect the ball is having on the bat. I hope my explanation was clear enough for you to grasp the concept.
