Best way to get used to the country is wandering downtown and looking at the local shops, parks, museums and eating locally. I've moved from United States to Mexico and back in over 7 different cities so I know what I am talking about.

 Keep in mind that it will take a while, maybe a week or 2 including a few months. Best way to get used to it is by making new friends and go hang out where they like to chill and relax. You will eventually get the feel for the place and adjust to your new settings.
