1.Divide. 0.8/ 14.12 A~17.65? 2.The cost of 36 items is $24.80. What is the cost of an individual item to the nearest cent?A~0.69? 3.Cindy is carpeting a recreation room 24 ft long and 18 ft wide. If the carpeting costs $18 per square yard, what will be the total cost of th carpet
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lets find out
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
First, you will need to find the total area. Once you find that, multiply it by 3.50 to find the total cost
OpenStudy (anonymous):
wow u guys know ure math!
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
Do you know how to find area @eocampo26 ?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):
Okay.
OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
correct?
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
yep. Now, what's the area of the square room?
OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
do i multiply 3.50 times 13?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):
No. Remember, area of square is the length of one side squared. So 13 times 13
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no, 13 x 13
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ooook... im very confused ik im stupid .-.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so since i got 216 now i multiply 13x 13?
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
No, you're not stupid. Just think of it like a rectangle. Area of a rectangle is length x width, right? A square is the same t hing, except the length equals the width, so you would do 13 x 13. Understand?

yes. Correct. Now add together 169 and 219
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
216, my bad

ohhhhhh :D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
equals 385
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ya I was just gonn a say that lol
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
169 + 216 = the total area
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
Yes! Now take that, and multiply it by 3.5

ohhhh
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so its 1347.5?
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
Yep. That's the total cost to carpet both rooms
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so the expresion would be :
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes! great job !! see ur smarter than we thought :^)

12x18+13x13x35?
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
So, just write out all we did for the expression.
First we found the area of teh rectangular room: 12(18)
Then the square room: 13(13)
Then we added them: 12(18) + 13(13)
Then we multiplied by 3.5: [12(18)+13(13)]3.5
That's your expression
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
Almost, but you ned the parentheses like I used
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
need*
OpenStudy (anonymous):
correct.
