hey guys is anyone online :D i have a question

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Hello @eocampo26 , welcome to Openstudy! What's your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure eocampo26 I will gladly love to help u and aswell welcome to openstudy.com !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so @eocampo26 whats ur q and a?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so george wants to put carpenting in a rectangular living room and a square bedroom. The lenth and withd of the living room is 12 ft by 18. One side of the square bed room is 13 ft. it will cost $3.50 per square ft to carpen rooms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

write and expression that can be used to find the total amount george will pay for carpenting?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.Divide. 0.8/ 14.12 A~17.65? 2.The cost of 36 items is $24.80. What is the cost of an individual item to the nearest cent?A~0.69? 3.Cindy is carpeting a recreation room 24 ft long and 18 ft wide. If the carpeting costs $18 per square yard, what will be the total cost of th carpet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets find out

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

First, you will need to find the total area. Once you find that, multiply it by 3.50 to find the total cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow u guys know ure math!

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Do you know how to find area @eocampo26 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay, so what is the area of the rectangular room?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me work it out :D im slow at this (very slow)

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so i multiply 12x18?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

You can plug the numbers into a calculator, btw

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i have it here

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

k, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it equals 216

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take ur time dont :^)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

yep. Now, what's the area of the square room?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now square room

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i multiply 3.50 times 13?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

No. Remember, area of square is the length of one side squared. So 13 times 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, 13 x 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooook... im very confused ik im stupid .-.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so since i got 216 now i multiply 13x 13?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

No, you're not stupid. Just think of it like a rectangle. Area of a rectangle is length x width, right? A square is the same t hing, except the length equals the width, so you would do 13 x 13. Understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhhh yea :D

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

:) so what's 13 x 13?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't say ur stupid ur very smart lets just wake that smartness shall we? 13 x13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

give me a sec i lost my pencil >_<

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im back :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13x13 equals 169

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

yes. Correct. Now add together 169 and 219

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

216, my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhh :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

equals 385

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya I was just gonn a say that lol

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

169 + 216 = the total area

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Yes! Now take that, and multiply it by 3.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 1347.5?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Yep. That's the total cost to carpet both rooms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the expresion would be :

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes! great job !! see ur smarter than we thought :^)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12x18+13x13x35?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

So, just write out all we did for the expression. First we found the area of teh rectangular room: 12(18) Then the square room: 13(13) Then we added them: 12(18) + 13(13) Then we multiplied by 3.5: [12(18)+13(13)]3.5 That's your expression

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Almost, but you ned the parentheses like I used

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

need*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx how do u change ure profile?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

What do you mean? Your picture, you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u go on your profile settings :^)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i have a ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so my expresion is

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Hover over your profile pic on the top right of your page, and a drop down list will show settings

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait the way u wrote the expresion is confusing

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

What are you confused about?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the way u wrote ure expresion

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

You can also write it like this: \(\Large (12\times 18+ 13\times 13)3.5\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh that helps :D

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now there par B

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

K, what's part B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey @eocampo26 can u give me a medal just put best response on my answers plz? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says evaluate the expression. How much will george pay for the carpenting?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shure i gueess when im done

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

@ilyvowls2004 Stop asking. He doesn't have to if he doesn't want to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shure i gueess when im done

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

@eocampo26 lol, we already did that! It's 1347.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO TRUE!!! 0.O IM SO SORRY @EOCAMPO26 THANKS STUDYGURL ;)

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

yep :) @eocamp26 The Best Response button should go to whoever the asker thinks helped him/her the most, and not to whoever asks for it. :) Although, I understand the temptation of wanting toa sk, lol! @ilyvowls2004

OpenStudy (anonymous):

UMMMMMMM.. k

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Anyway, are you done @eocampo26 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey guys orry i could not type it did not et me but shure ill give the medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes im done :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no its 1 more ?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

It's ok. As you will learn, Openstudy is very glitchy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should i make it seperate so i could give the medal to the other one?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay, what's the other one

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Sure, if you like. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

It's actually an unspoken rule of one question per thread.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I gave u a medal 2 @eocampo26 cause we found out the problem together ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i made the other question :D
