Solving
15 = 10 + 2a
Solving for variable 'a'.
Move all terms containing a to the left, all other terms to the right.
Add '-2a' to each side of the equation.
15 + -2a = 10 + 2a + -2a
Combine like terms: 2a + -2a = 0
15 + -2a = 10 + 0
15 + -2a = 10
OpenStudy (benlindquist):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you need some milk
OpenStudy (qwertty123):
Add '-15' to each side of the equation.
15 + -15 + -2a = 10 + -15
Combine like terms: 15 + -15 = 0
0 + -2a = 10 + -15
-2a = 10 + -15
Combine like terms: 10 + -15 = -5
-2a = -5
Divide each side by '-2'. When you do that what do you get?
OpenStudy (benlindquist):
-7

Maybe this will help:
2a + 10 = 15 then minus the 10 from both sides to get
2a = 5 then divide the 2 from both sides to get
a = ___
OpenStudy (qwertty123):
What is -5 divided by -2?
OpenStudy (benlindquist):
7
OpenStudy (the_beast_eli):
2.5
