OpenStudy (pgreene008):

Evaluate the expression: v ⋅ w Given the vectors: r = <5, -5, -2>; v = <2, -8, -8>; w = <-2, 6, -5>

OpenStudy (freckles):

to find dot product 1) multiply first components of both vectors 2) multiply second components of both both vectors 3) multiply third components of both vectors 4) add those products from 1) to 3)

OpenStudy (pgreene008):

so what do i do in this particular situation, i dont know how to do one with three different vectors

OpenStudy (freckles):

did you try to follow my instructions

OpenStudy (freckles):

the first component in v is 2 the first component in w is -2 the second component in v is -8 the second component is w is 6 and so on...

OpenStudy (pgreene008):

so would it be 2*-2 + -8*6 + -8*-5 ?

OpenStudy (freckles):

yep

OpenStudy (pgreene008):

i got -12, is that correct?

OpenStudy (freckles):

-4-48+40 -4-8 -12 looks right

OpenStudy (pgreene008):

ok, thaks for the help

OpenStudy (freckles):
