Please help me with a word problem, thank you! Kaylin is a running back on her football team. In her last game, she ran the ball 3 times gaining 12 1/3 yd on her first carry, losing 2 3/4 yd on her second carry, and gaining 19 1/4 yd on her third carry. Her coach, Eric used a calculator to find that the net yardage was 40 yd. Estimate Kaylin’s net yardage for her 3 carries. Show your work. (Note: Net yardage is the number of yards gained or lost after all 3 carries of the ball.)

The system gave the answer, which is 28yds They did this: 12-3+19= 28 Although, I don't know why they put those specific numbers
