OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I've noticed this glitch before. It happens once in a while but normally clears itself up quickly. Today it stuck there for the longest time.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

No matter what question you click the same thing comes up.

jabez177 (jabez177):

Just refresh, it's a simple glitch. I have had it before.

jabez177 (jabez177):

If refreshing doesn't fully work then log out and log back in of OpenStudy. It's GUARANTEED to work then. :)

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I know how to fix it but there has to be a reason this has started happening more and more often. Whether it be browser related or server related. @Preetha @shadowfiend I don't know if fiend is even active or not now days but It's worth a shot. Thought I would bring it up. Upon searching it doesn't seem to have been happening that often.

jabez177 (jabez177):

It is server related, that happens.

jabez177 (jabez177):

People buy OwlBucks and that helps give money to OpenStudy so OpenStudy can buy new servers this way it'll take care of the lag.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

You know, typically @jabez177 most of the time things like this happen because your browser isn't able to handle what these servers are pushing out. The lag is the server's fault. These two problems don't fall under the same categories.

jabez177 (jabez177):

I've seen this on all the Browsers.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I doubt it is a server problem in all honesty. Something physically had to have been done to the server in order for it to do that more often. More than likely the browsers aren't properly reading the scripts (possibly because the scripts are outdated) therefor they aren't rendering it properly. My question wasn't is it the servers or the browsers fault but more why is it happening so often now. Its becoming a problem that reoccurs more and more often. Leading me to believe its the browsers advancing faster than the scripts. Thank you for you're opinion though @jabez177 ! Much appreciated.

Nnesha (nnesha):

that happens when ghost (anonymous) s viewing the post. hmmm

imqwerty (imqwerty):

yes this glitch has been coming almost evry day since i joined

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

It has to be that the browsers aren't able to support some of the scripts. I'd never seen it before I came back.

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

@Nnesha What do you mean by Ghost? As an a person who is viewing a OS question, but isn't logged in or a registered user?

OpenStudy (willie579):

Spraguer glitch. sp00py.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I think that was more of a "troll" statement @Zeronknight

imqwerty (imqwerty):

http://prntscr.com/a17bg9

OpenStudy (willie579):

Nah, Spraguer is a ghost.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Thatʻs the OS question template. Shows up sometimes when youʻre loading up a question and itʻs having trouble.

OpenStudy (willie579):

http://prntscr.com/a17bu0 Sprauger and his guest ghost minions. 2sp00py4me.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Thatʻs why the admins have random and weird posts...like has anyone found spraugers masseuse post ;p

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

You just have to let the question load. If the glitch persists, then try reloading the page.

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

http://prntscr.com/a17chg Should have never click on that Image thingy lol

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

*As I see the Sprauger ghost viewing this post* Legit...

OpenStudy (willie579):

Legit. 10/10,

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Wow, I can't believe my eyes.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I take it all back.

OpenStudy (willie579):

YOU'RE EYES LIE!? I'M SHOCKED. ... *ZAAAAAAAAAAP*

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I have no theory then why this would be happening. He must have became more active.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I think every time he opens it and leaves it creates another ghost in his spot.

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

Why are those people/things appearing?

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Chuckies baaaccckkk. It looks like a sort of place marker to be honest @Zeronknight where when he leaves the "ghosts" form in his place.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

And I used to think that those blank users were just users viewing the post without signing in... but they could be part of the glitch too.

jabez177 (jabez177):

^ http://prntscr.com/a17jt8 More... e.e

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Huh. So strange...

alones (alones):

kinda creepy i thought those were the guest hehe ;]

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Oh my gosh... I refreshed and 8 ghosts total... O.O

alones (alones):

yep same mayeb there stalking

imqwerty (imqwerty):

http://prntscr.com/a17mip

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Stop it!

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I think he shows up anytime there's a reply...lets test.

candycove (candycove):

Testing ...

candycove (candycove):

14 ghost people. Rip ;~;

imqwerty (imqwerty):

http://prntscr.com/a17s0l

candycove (candycove):

THEY KEEP INCREASING.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

He keeps showing back up that's why. Like I said every time he shows up and leaves another forms.

alones (alones):

mhm ;~:

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Definitive proof he shows up every time something is posted here.

alones (alones):

i wish bunny could view 'em ;~;

imqwerty (imqwerty):

http://prntscr.com/a17zc8

alones (alones):

Oh snuggie i see

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

@Luigi0210

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

what the diddle is going on with all these ghosts

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Read above @poopsiedoodle Its Chris Sprague. Every time his ghost shows up and leaves a blank is left in his place. Every time someone posts he shows up then leaves again. That seems to be what caused the original glitch.

alones (alones):

@SnuggieLad i think the mystery starts to reveal hehe ;]

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Sprague is still here, but all the ghosts are gone. I wonder if something in the replies are triggering their appearance/disappearance.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

It's strange because if you hover your mouse over "Sprauger's" picture, it will show a blank link. If you hover over a real user's picture, it'll show a link to their profile, for instance mine: "openstudy.com/users/whitemonsterbunny17" Now, "Sprauger's" link is like this: "openstudy.com/study#" Now, on the "ghost users," there is no such link. Why?

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Yes, I've been getting that glitch as well but don't think its something to worry about :D Hope it gets fixed soon.

pooja195 (pooja195):

No offense to anyone but those glitches won't be getting fixed anytime soon preetha is pretty much inactive the best you can do is wait.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Well, sad news D: luckily i said "hope". Thanks for the sad but great update @pooja195

pooja195 (pooja195):

Oh and snuggie shad fiend doesn't come on anymore

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Yea, haven't seen him in a while :/

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

The reason that nothing is getting fixed is because we don't have sufficient funds to pay for coders and developers. We have one, but can barely afford the guy. So, we need more subscribers to get more funds to cover the costs for repairs. So if you can, please subscribe if you want these issues and glitches to be fixed. :)

pooja195 (pooja195):

We have the funds just need more active admin but yes as you can see things like lag have reduced a ton keep buying owl bucks and subscribe ;)

pooja195 (pooja195):

*admins

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

You know, as crazy as it sounds, Preetha has a life. A life that is more important than dealing with petty disputes and constant glitches caused by lack of a large scale webmaster service. That stuff costs money. Lots of money.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

This is a site that prides itself on being, you guessed it, free. How does a free site get money? Donations. Who gives donations? People with money. What group of people don't usually have money? Kids. What group, by a large percentage, use this site more than any other? Kids. Start donating people!

OpenStudy (qwertty123):

Okay! :) I had this glitch today too! :)

pooja195 (pooja195):

OS has the money. Just not the time.

Nnesha (nnesha):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Zeronknight @Nnesha What do you mean by Ghost? As an a person who is viewing a OS question, but isn't logged in or a registered user? \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) yes.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

HE'S FOLLOWING ME! Everywhere I go he goes too! I don't like this! STOP FOLLOWING ME CHRIS SPRAGUE! This is not what openstudy was meant for!

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Yup, this bug never gets old.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

and then again, he made a post 10 days ago :) http://openstudy.com/users/satellite73#/updates/56ad756de4b025e94c5c281e

OpenStudy (agl202):

Have u thought abt Jays extenstion for this? @SnuggieLad

OpenStudy (photon336):

yah, i got that a couple of times don't know how.

Pinkybottom67 (pinkybottom67):

It happens whenever a reply is posted on a post you have viewed that a "ghost" (actually a guest) is viewing, this is because when the JSON of the question is updated, it removes the value of small avatar picture for the guest viewers causing an error in the template... My extension fixes it by making the template look for a avatar value that does not get removed, thereby fixing the error ~Jaynator495

jabez177 (jabez177):

Could the ghosts also be people on their iOS app? :/

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

People on the iOS app appear offline even though they are technically online.

jabez177 (jabez177):

Ahhhh, good to know. So when I'm on my iOS app, they can't see me. Fascinating, I can use that to my advantage. ;) xD jk
