Compare the density of freshwater versus Dead Sea water. What wil an egg do in each of these?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

float?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

the dead sea I think is about the lowest point on the planet, or one of the lowest the water is banked, doesn't get anything or goes out and usually lowlands like so, are hot in temperature besides the Dead Sea has all kind of volcanic chemicals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Eggg density is about 1.03 and water density is 1.0. Therefore the egg will sink in ordinary tap water. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/salty-science-floating-eggs-in-water/

but does the egg sink or float in each water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wolf1728

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

The Dead Sea has a density of 1.24 (one of the highest water densities in the world). The egg will easily float in Dead Sea Water. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Sea Ordinary salt water has a density of 1.025 and so the egg will sink.
