Please find and post a couple of sample quadratic expressions or equations. Starting with those would make it much easier to discuss the techniques involved. Happy to be of help, but I've been trying for some time now to get you to ask more specific questions.

Liam, you are frittering away valuable time when you post comments such as those. The technique of solving a quadratic equation that you have in mind is indeed "completing the square." Your Sqrt(4) has nothing to do with the problem you've posted.
