PLEASE HELP!! MEDAL! Can somebody explain this question for me clearly cuz im having a hard time understanding the question. Is there a hope in this story or are Holden's cynical views supposed to wear off on the reader??

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

Okay, so to be cynical is to be pessimistic or basically, really dark and negative. So from the context clues in your question, I'm going to assume that Holden's views are very negative and dark throughout his story. What your question is asking is if you think the darkness from the story will affect those who read it or if you think that there is still something positive and hopeful left in the story for the readers.
