OpenStudy (lilday12):

Is the integer below prime or composite? 39 A. prime B. composite

Theoceangirl (the_ocean_girl):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Prime numbers are only divisible by 1 and itself. Composite numbers can be divisible by numbers other than 1 and itself. Can you think of any numbers that can go into 39 that aren't 1 or 39?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Try putting them in your calculator. 39 / 2 39 / 3 39 / 4 etc. If you get a whole number for any of these, then it's a composite number.

OpenStudy (vijeya3):

This number has only 2 factors,1 and 39 itself...no other number...therefore it is prime. If this is helpful, fan and medal me:)
