38=2a+58 a=?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

hint: If I subtract \(58\) from boe this: \[\Large 38 - 58 = 2a + 58 - 58\] please simplify

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

oops.. from both sides...

OpenStudy (imsleeziboii):

a=-10

OpenStudy (imsleeziboii):

you multiply 2 by a and since the number is less than the number being added its a negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

:)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Kindly include all of the instructions for this problem. 38=2a+58 a=? could be confusing. At first I'd thought you had 58a on the right side of this equation. Please type out, "Given 38=2a+58, find the value of a."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the answer now thx! :)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Nevertheless, I hope you'll follow my advice.
