OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

@imqwerty @jabez177 @Awolflover1 @Hayhayz Could one of you help this person?

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

The famous "enemy of my enemy is my ally!" quote comes into play. They were not exactly allies though, they just had a common enemy (Germany) and they both assisted each other to destroy Nazi Germany. Prior to WW2, Russia and Germany signed a pact that stated they would not wage war on each other basically, but Germany broke the pact by invading Russia under operation Barbarossa (google it, pretty interesting, never invade Russia in winter) and since Germany was at war with England and the rest of the Allied power, United states was like, 'Murica! and jumped in the war.

OpenStudy (addicted2anime):

thanks for the help!

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

Thanks for helping them! :D

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

This caused Germany to be caught in a two front war. On the west, they had Canada, United States, and Great Britain and on the east was Russia. They combined efforts to eradicate Nazi Germany essentially

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

BUT! it should be noteworthy that they were never allies since the ideals of communism were different than that of United States, but they made an exception during the war and turned a blind eye to their differences.

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

I have the answer :D I love World war 2 history <3

The 2 expecting enemies became allies to defeat one dangerous enemy. This Enemy was Germany which had suddenly gotten under the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler. Germany had lost lands to Poland in World War 1 and wanted it back. So the Germans planned to make an excuse to attack Poland so they went to a local radio station in Germany near the boarder... pretended to be Polish soldiers and started attacking the radio station saying they will conquer Germany... and then they murdered a German in front of the radio station. With this fake excuse Hitler sent his full forces to Poland and attacked it taking it down in less than a week. As we know Poland is near Russia.... so the whole world got a cold shiver when they saw how Dangerous Hitler really was and how fast he did it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u know alot

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

Germany had taken over almost all of Europe except England... but we needed help defeating the enemy. so Russia and the freedom nation united

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

Of course we never wanted to get involved in war.... until they attacked us in Pearl Harbor.... with no excuse.

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

We were involved in the war though, not directly, but we were involved nonetheless

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

Thats why Pearl Harbor was attacked. Japan knew it was a matter of time before United States entered the way, so they wanted to strike the first blow

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

we didn't want to fight but after the attack we were fully in it. look at D-Day

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

(the US were the main suppliers to Great Britain and other allied countries, whether it be weapons or food)

OpenStudy (addicted2anime):

then we flatend japan with fat man and little boy.

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

yup ^_^

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

We did so for various reasons other than to attack Japan.

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

well mostly for revenge as they didn't want to surrender plus the cities that were bombed were mainly because of their importance in the war effort

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

1) they wanted to see the effects of the bomb in cities (they choose those cities since they were unscathed from the carpet bombing) 2) The russians were coming and they were afraid they might set up shop and spread their own ideals (remember that communism and democracy dont go hand in hand, and the US were afraid of communism hence, the containment policy)

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

bombs were tested in the New Mexico desert

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

yeah, but they wanted to see the effects on a city and people. its not same blowing a firecracker in a field than in an ant hill. They knew the devastation, they simply used Japan as a playground

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

and test field*

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

IT was known as the biggest crematorium in human history... the radio active effects were not expected tho

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

Thats why they wanted to drop it, they wanted to know the effects on humans, which would be unethical to do in New Mexico since you cannot strap humans to a pole while they witness a huge mushroom cloud before them.
