I had to select a poem to write an analytical essay on, and I selected the shortest one: Alden Nowlan's "Canadian January Night". I can't seem to explain the meaning, and significance of each line. Basically the poem reflects the reality of Canadian life, and is a conflict between humans and nature. The power of nature is so heavily highlighted through images, and its impact is described as being destructive. I'm supposed to talk about persona, diction, tone, imagery, figures of speech, sound, form, etc. Actually I have to select only three elements from these and focus on them.
