Is the group of words a simple sentence, a compound sentence, or a run-on sentence? Orangutans live in the jungle and swing from trees. A. compound sentence B. run-on sentence C. simple sentence

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

What do you suppose?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinkin compound

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Compound sentences connects two sentences together, with conjunction words like and, or, but, etc. Orangutans live in the jungle and swing from trees are connected by and right? Not a run on because it isn't running on without pauses or periods. "In English grammar, a simple sentence is a sentence with only one independent clause (also known as a main clause)." http://grammar.about.com/od/rs/g/simpsenterm.htm But this contains a dependent and independent clause. So it isn't a simple sentence.
