Got a warning from a mod for saying "lmao" in the Mathematics chat. Why? Seems kinda dumb to me.
inb4 suspended for being an A B S O L U T E M A D M A N
you might want to delete this post cause it's considered spamming
It's a question for mods or others with knowledge on the issue. Not spam
Also, you got a warning because "lm*o" contains a curse word when spelled out. And cursing is prohibited on OS
why won't you just use pm's??? Hm.Mr.legendary
The letter "a" is not a curse word.
yes it is
No, but what the letter "a" stands for is a curse word in the phrase.
But I didn't swear. I used an expression to show the humor I found. I never said any curse words.
Cursing isn't allowed, but where does it says implying cursing isn't allowed?
In the CoC
@tkhunny is this considered spamming?
no this post is not spam by technically, any acronym that contains a word that is usually filtered by openstudy's system is considered cursing ("a$$" turns into "retrice") I suppose you could have used "lmbo" = "laughing my butt off" instead Does this make more sense now? ^_^" (and yes, personally I do not believe "a$$" is *that* derogatory :P)
BOOM every day users use lmao and nobody suspends them!
who said anything about suspending? @Alexandervonhumbolt2
well warning
I've seen many "mods" using the word "lmao".
It depends on the mod.
yeah most of cool mods don't suspend for such reasons
That's why I use the other site more often wink wink...
Lmao Laughing my arms off See arms isn't a curse word
dirty minds make out different meanings containing bad words in them
Awww yeah and all it takes is one dirty mind to mess it up
Lmqo Laughing my qwarty off :)
Lmao Laughing my Alex off?
LOL xD
Acronyms: Preetha will support any moderators that suspend people over an acronym. It is mostly about intent. Also, using F in the sense of the F-Word is covered as avoiding the language filter.~e.mccomick People try to use acronyms so that they can evade the filter. Ofc the acronym can mean anything such as "wtf" can mean Where's The Food it all depends on the context. My suggestion is to just avoid those acronyms altogether. You don't need to use them they don't make you look cool. If you see a mod use it you can either report the mod or pm another mod about the issue. Many people try to be a smart alek by trying to use profanity. It is still evading the filters. There are millions of words you can choose to use, don't use profanity. Simple. Also to add to that, some people consider those acronyms offensive. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @UsukiDoll Lmao Laughing my arms off See arms isn't a curse word \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) 1) That makes no sense 2) Mods are not stupid they know exactly what you mean. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @LegendarySadist But I didn't swear. I used an expression to show the humor I found. I never said any curse words. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) It was only a warning it's not a big deal. On the contrary you could have just said lol instead of "lmao" Also many mods use the urban dictionary to determine whether a certain word is a swear word or not. I hope I explained well enough for you to understand @LegendarySadist
Can still bypass it with laughing my Alex off
UsukiDoll Trusted Helper You've already chosen the best response. Medals 2 Lmao Laughing my Alex off? yes and i bet sadist meant it too :P
jiggly, how do you know if sadist didn't meant Laughit my alex off? :PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @UsukiDoll Can still bypass it with laughing my Alex off \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) It depends on the mod. As I said most mods look to the Urban Dictionary.
Urban Dictionary, a trusted source.
^It was only a warning it's not a big deal. On the contrary you could have just said lol instead of "lmao" ^ 1 warning 2 warnings and then suspension which is a big deal
All of a sudden I got 50 notifications. What gives?
@AlexandervonHumboldt2 The asker claims they were warned.
gosh
i'm not blind
Abcdefg Did I do that? :p

As I said most mods look to the Urban Dictionary. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) urban dictionary has 78 meanings with a few decent ones :) why do you focus on dirty stuff?

@pooja195 you posted that intentionally you could've also said that mods consider only the top defination
So if that LMAO was posted via image then anyone can post l m a o
Laugh my Ahahahahaha off
@imqwerty Sorry for not being as smart as you. I am simply trying to prove my point. :-) No need to be a smart alek.
l m a o=luigu medals alex off
this is top definition
/\
Everyday we shuffling....
Um..are you guys 3 year olds? "lmao" stands for something..it's called an acronym..just like "lol" stands for "laughing out loud". Can you not understand that?
we do we dont understand why mods WARN for this
Lol, I read that wrong
why do mods consider top defination from urban dictionary? who told them to do so? tomorrow they will make their own dirty dictionary and will follow it
dirtiest one
yeah ^
It's called a swear word..they don't want people using slang on here because there are people on this site who's parents don't want them using it.
lol
100 users use lol every hour
Guys it's just a warning. Geez. No need to make another war post.
You can say you don't consider it a bad word..but that doesn't change the overall consideration.
^
i have been gone for how long and you guys are still arguing about such a silly topic
Everywhere swears. Not just the bet but also mainstream media like TV. I meant net
og boom luigu is here :O
@AlexandervonHumboldt2 That's not my point at all..you think I'm saying "lol" is a bad word? Really? smh
Everyday there is a war post. Just like yesterday morning
lol can be considered as a bad word too
@UsukiDoll "everybody swears" No..that is not correct.
Whatev....brah
The warning is just to tell you that, you might not think it's bad, but don't use it on this site. Others might approve of it, but the mods don't. So it's simple, just don't use it.
This is a study site. There are parents on the site, they don't want their kids to know these words. Personally I have learned words from here that i never even wanted to know. If you have a problem with the filter talk to preetha. And @UsukiDoll Honestly your points don't seem valid, changing the acronym to a different meaning doesn't change the definition that is in the dictionary.
Type all u want. I am not gonna read it
mods should only worry about their kids.
every kid has his own parent. his parent must teach him and nobody else
if he doesn't then he is not a parent
But I do agree with legendary, qwerty, and Alex so I'll read
You can use it elsewhere, but not here. If we let this go, you'll move on to other slang terms until there's basically nothing left to filter.. For example, if "lmao" is okay, then how come _____ isn't okay?
