If your religious can you read Harry Porrer
Oh i mean gary potter
DAANG!!!!!!!!!I MEAN HARRY POTTER -.-
I am religious, and I have read Harry Potter. Pretty sure you \(\it{can}\) too. You may want to elaborate on what you mean by can. Are you asking whether it is morally okay?
yeah..like it won't ruin your relations..cuz i keep on hearing from freinds they say if your christian your Not allowed too ..hrmm
Exodus 23:7 Stay away from false matters; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not::for I will not justify the wicked. When I was a child I acted as a child, as an adult I let childish things go. The question is how are you influenced by what you read?
@KenLJW makes a good point ^
Yeah!
Oh okay I'll just keep away from that false things that are going on :3
In the 70's a book came out "Johathan Livingston Seagull" and at a in-laws dinner table it was said there going to teach it in the 6th grade. I was curious and read it over the next couple days and then said at the dinner table what are they teaching these kids. Actually my repulsion was placing a somewhat Christian principle of resurrection within a frictional story. Many children aren't familiar with the Bible today, I was one, and having read fantasies of this sort would relegate the Bible to fantasy or myth with no sense of reality. If one chooses to believe the Bible as a myth one must realize all myths have great truths within them especially when our culture was somewhat founded on it, the Golden Age of ancient Greece, and British common law.
Oh o.O
This is a tough one haha, even though it may seem silly. Many Christians/religious people say that the Harry Potter books bear many references to Christ and are therefore very good! much like Narnia! On the other hand, people say the witchcraft and so forth in the books is against Christian "ethics" Er...if you live at home, I would just ask your parents what they think and what they would prefer. (if you should read them or not) ^-^ If they are unsure as well, I would just go with not reading them...not because of superstition or anything, but because it seems you are sort of hesitant. Usually when we are hesitant about things like this its better to just abstain. Maybe later on you can read them when you feel more comfortable with the thought -- and again maybe you never will :)
I've heard that because Harry Potter has Witchcraft within it, which is a prohibited in the bible it is not to be read (otherwise children may fall under the books influence and look more into the subject)
Life consist of allusions and illusions and we must be able to distinguish the two, and in order to do this one must have a firm foundation on which to live.
Some religious schools forbid it because of witchcraft and magic
I could never handle that!
Harry Potter is actually a handbook of magic and such. There are some spells that are used, which are real. Some of the names of the characters or even places are names of demons, such as Azkaban and Draco. It ultimately depends on what religion you follow. Religion does not just mean Christian or Jew, but religion envelopes Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Scientology, Mormonism, Satanism, and in my opinion even atheism. Though, I know many people will disagree with the last part, which is fine. It's my opinion.
lol
