Question

I'm sick of my parents hating on me for all my dreams. It's like I can never please them. Am I the only one who goes through this?

I fear I can never live up to my parents, I fear they don't like the things I dream of. I want to go into theater and my mom asked why I said "Because I want to go into theater like you" she said "Seriously....you shouldn't"

@LaLa_Land dude my parents hate my dreams too. i wanna become a singer and maybe be in a band and they say "you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning" and it makes me feel awful but i just keep moving

Hello my dear! I know how you must feel, and it can be really very hard. It is also difficult for your parents - to watch you growing up. You're not their teeny baby anymore!
Think about it from both sides :)
They may seem like they're "hating on your dreams" but I really really doubt that. Your parents love you. Always. They want what's best for you and that is why they're so hard on you. Keep strong. Let them know you love them too.
Maybe, talk to them about some frustrations you're having (about how you feel like they don't support you) but make sure it's civil and that you listen to them as they listen to you :D

They may hate on it, but it's for you. They don't want you to be a poor bum on the streets or living in poverty. Because no one has dreams come true only like %10 of the time. The best thing to do is keep your mind open to your dreams and their ideas.

you just have to keep doing what makes you happy and prove to them that you are good at it and the they will see that they were wrong the whole time.I go through that every day just live with it and prove the wrong that it the best way

Legit this is how my parents are; once I start making a success off of something they'll want to leech off of me. My username is the name of my band and while yes we don't have any official music out yet we do have a small fan base around Georgia. My parents didn't want me to play music so I had to sneak out every night to make money. They were mad at first but then they were like yeah you keep on doing that as long as we get a cut of it. So I went through a very similar experience and I still am. Some parents may want you do what you want to do until it's something they don't like for you to do. So there are ways of getting around it. I wouldn't exactly recommend sneaking out at 9:30 at night but whatever you do will work. Believe me.

You're definitely not the only one believe me. Don't sass off to them or talk back to much because they are your parents and you don't want to get in trouble. Just know that if you really want something enough you can accomplish it. If this means doing your own thing and ignoring your parents then do what you have to.
