solve 4+|t+2|<11

pooja195 (pooja195):

Hi there :) Welcome to openstudy! First lets get rid of the 4 4+|t+2|<11 Subtract 4 from both sides 4- 4+|t+2|<11-4 What is 11-4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11-4 is 7

pooja195 (pooja195):

Good :) 4- 4+|t+2|<11-4 Now we have |t+2|<7 Absolute values have two solutions 1 positive and one negative so, t+2=7 <---this will be the + solution t+2=-7 <---- this is the - solution solve both for t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 and -9

pooja195 (pooja195):

Perfect now write it out as an answer e.g : t < 5 do the other one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t>-9

pooja195 (pooja195):

We only flip the sign when we DIVIDE by a negative so, t < 5 t < -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay

thank you for your help
