Three girls are preparing information packets about an upcoming fundraiser event. Nicole prepared 270 packets in 45 min. Hillary prepared 450 packets in 1.5 h. McKenzie prepared 280 packets in 1 h and 10 min. (a) Who works the fastest? Explain how you solved this problem. (b) Each girl worked another 2 h at her same rate. Who made the most packets that day? Explain how you solved this problem. Answer:

ok so you have to find how many packets each of the girls made per minute. You do this by dividing packets by the minutes. So for Nicole 270/45= 6 packets per minute. Now for Hillary you have to convert the hours into minutes. So 1.5 hrs equals 90 minutes. Now you can divide 450 by 90 which equals 5. Finally for Mackenzie, 1 hour and 10 minutes equals 70 minutes divided by 280 which equals 4. You understand so far?

So now who worked the fastest? The answer is whoever had the most packets which would be Nicole who has 6 packets per hour. So she obviously worked the fastest.
