Well I can't write a paragraph for you but I can give you some information :)

US government has spent over billions of dollars pushing "green" projects because they would allegedly be more ecologically friendly. Which turns out that so far utmost of them have been sheer financial failures...some have even been worse ecologically than were the things they were supposed to replace.

One example could the Three Gorges Dam in China. It's world's largest hydroelectric plant that has just had it last generator put in recently. It was built to provide clean energy, but also control the annual flooding of the Yangtze river which has been a historic problem that has happened for China.
