we want to cut so we get two triangles and 1 rectangle
OpenStudy (anonymous):
area = base1 + base2 divide ny 2 muliply by height
OpenStudy (study312):
so 18 - 14 = the base for the triangle
OpenStudy (anonymous):

The easiest way by far to do this problem is to find the AVERAGE length of the figure. Two parallel sides are given; they are 14 and 18 inches. What is the average of that?
Next, what is the width of the figure??
The area is (average length) * (width). Please show your work..

Hint: the average of 3 and 4 is (3+4)/2 = 3.5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OpenStudy (study312):
A=a+b
2h=14+18
2·12=192
OpenStudy (study312):
- google
