OpenStudy (ayubie):

Solve the following initial value problem: y′′ + 8y = δ(t −1), y(0)=3, y'(0)=4

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

What're you needing help with?

OpenStudy (baru):

we just need to solve y′′ + 8y=0 for two cases: t<1 and t>1 by figuring out the correct initial conditions for each case

OpenStudy (baru):

we can expect y to be continuous and y' to have a jump at t=1

OpenStudy (ayubie):

so I just ignore the δ(t −1 until I'm plugging in the initial conditions?

OpenStudy (baru):

yup
