ALGEBRA HELP. WILL FAN & MEDAL :) 4. The point (2, 1) is the solution of which of the following systems of equations? A) y = -2x + 5 and y = 2x + 2 B) y = -2x + 5 and y = 2x - 2 C) y = x + 3 and y = 3x - 5 D) y = -x + 3 and y = 3x - 5 5. For which of the following values of m would the system of equations y = 4x + 1 and y = mx - 5 have no solutions? A) 4 B) 1 C) -5 D) -4

#4 is D? How did you get that answer? Can you please show me the step-by-step solution?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Post only one question at a time, please. You are given the point (2,1). This tells us that x=2 and y=1. Substitute x =2 and y=1 into both equations in possible answer A. Are both equations then true? If so, (2,1) is a solution. If not, then (2,1) is not a solution of set A, and you'll need to continue on to set B.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

the point 2,1 is saying that 2 , 1 x , y so... with those values for "y" and "x", as mathmale suggested, test the given choices see which one gives you a valid EQUATion
