How does conjugation result in genetic recombination?

so conjugation is basically the bacterial form of sex between two cells. the donor cell will have a DNA segment called the F-plasmid and will transfer that to another cell lacking an F-plasmid via a plus (kind of like a bridge that will link donor cell to recipient). The recipient cell will then incorporate that F-plasmid segment into its own genome during synthesis
