What is the surface area of the right triangular prism? 72 cm^2 192 cm^2 168 cm^2 240 cm^2

OpenStudy (mrnood):

if this was a carboard box and you 'unwrapped' it you would have 3 rectangles, and 2 triangles. If you work out the area of each face you have the total area

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

how am i supposed to know the area of each face

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

? sorry if that sounded rude i meant it as a genuine question

OpenStudy (mrnood):

you have all the dimansions in the drawing you need to know how to work out the area of a rectangle, and the area of a triangle. These must be part of your study - so you should know them - or refer to your text

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

okay. im gonna try it and will you tell me if i have the correct answer once i work it out?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

OK Try writing the dimensions of the 3 rectangular sides first.....

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

for the triangular sides, which measurement is the base and which is the height, and how can i tell?

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

i'm assuming the 6cm is the base and the 8cm is the height but im not really sure

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

i really dont know how to figure out the area of everything. it doesnt make sense
