Find some important points in the passage. 
Then try to word it as if you are a teacher asking your students if they remember that part of the passage. 

It's really completely up to you to choose which points you want to form questions from, many things could work. :)

An example:

Which of the following describes what the 12 tribes were rich in. What else did they possess?

A. Rich in cattle; they also had with gold and silver

B. Rich in jewels; they also had bronze and spices

C. Rich in camels; they also had gold and silver

Read, and then try to quiz yourself from the paragraphs. Take certain words out and try to make a quiz out of it. Like when I did '12 tribes were rich in cattle, gold and silver' I turned it into a example question
