PLEASE HELP :(

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

The graph shows the prices of different numbers of bushels of corn at a store in the current year. The table shows the prices of different numbers of bushels of corn at the same store in the previous year. Previous Year Number of Bushels Price of Corn (dollars) 2 10 4 20 6 30 8 40

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

Describe in words how you can find the rate of change of a bushel of corn in the current year, and find the value.

OpenStudy (skylyerbailey):

This is really hard.....hmmmm

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dang

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The rate of change of the bushels of corn will be given by the slope of the line

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

idk how to do it :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know slope intercept form?

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

no what is it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THE SUM OF 2 NUMBERS IS 26. AND THEIR POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IS 12. FIND THE LARGER NUMBER

John paid $50 for renting a cycle for 5 hours. Which graph shows the relationship between the cost of renting a cycle for different hours? A graph is shown. The title of the graph is Cycle Renting. The horizontal axis label is Number of Hours. The horizontal axis values are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. The vertical axis label is Cost in dollars. The vertical axis values are 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. Points are plotted on the ordered pairs 1,10 and 2,20 and 3,30. A graph is shown. The title of the graph is Cycle Renting. The horizontal axis label is Number of Hours. The horizontal axis values are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. The vertical axis label is Cost in dollars. The vertical axis values are 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. i need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation for a line in slope-intercept form is given by y=mx+b, you need to find m by calculating the slope of the line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@VeritasVosLiberabit helppppppp meeeee plzzź

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

do i just choose numbers and multiply them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the equation: \[m=\frac{ y_{2}-y_{1} }{ x_{2}-x_{1}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x and y represent points on a line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want to find how the price per bushel changes

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

(28,4) (42,6)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, those points will work. Now plug them into the equation which will give you the slope or the rate of change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jerlin1103 please make your own thread if you want help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there go to it

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

m = (28)2 - (42)1 / (4)2 - ( 6)1 like this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Almost, except do not multiply the numbers by 2 and 1. Those are just subscripts to denote different y values and different x values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

other than that, you will get the correct answer

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

oh ok wait let me do it and ill give you what i got :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@VeritasVosLiberabit are you gonna help me

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

wait until hes done with me @jerlin1103

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jerlin1103 sure, please be patient and let me finish this problem.

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

14/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct, now simplify it further

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this shows you the price per bushel.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is 14 divided by 2

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the answer

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

theres another question thats part of this

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

can you help me on it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you can use your own words to explain the process for your final answer. Look back at what I wrote earlier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Make a new thread and I can help you

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

How many dollars more is the price of a bushel of corn in the current year than the price of a bushel of corn in the previous year? Show your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, if you find my answer satisfactory don't forget to medal

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

what about this question? @VeritasVosLiberabit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

boi

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):
