likeabossssssss (likeabossssssss):

what do u think it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not really sure how to find it, I know how to calculate area but irregular shapes confuse me.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Draw a horiz. line thru y=-6. This forms a trapezoid of width 2. The lengths of this trapez. are 6 and 11. Can you find the area of this trapez.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the area of the trapezoid, I'd have to find the area of the triangle and rectangle separately right? Thank you for replying!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

There are many ways in which you can solve this problem, including the use of triangles. So I won't say "right" or "wrong."

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If you'd prefer not to deal with trapezoids, go ahead and use a triangle and rectangle in place of a single trapezoid.

For the triangle I got 5, the rectangle 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I can do the rest using that technique, thank you!!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I obtained the total 17 myself. Nice work on your part. You're welcome.
